Endowment
In June 1993, Marion-Polk Food Share (MPFS) established an endowment at the Oregon Community Foundation to ensure funding for long-term projects that address the root causes of hunger.
The endowment enables MPFS to create ongoing programs that teach people self-sustainable skills that can help alleviate hunger.
Unless otherwise restricted by the donor, funds coming to MPFS from bequests, living wills, planned and other estate gifts are immediately placed in the board-directed fund for endowment. Part of the power of endowment gifts is that they are invested and only the interest is used.
Named Funds
A Named Fund is an ideal way to honor a family, or memorialize the memory of a beloved family member or an admired individual. Through our endowment at Oregon Community Foundation, Marion-Polk Food Share is able to provide donors with the means to create a personal Named Fund.
Named Funds have perpetual recognition in our Annual Report and giving societies. A minimum gift amount of $5,000 is required to establish a Named Fund in the Endowment. Additional funds in any amount may be added by anyone to the Named Fund at anytime.
During their lifetime, Named Fund donors receive regular reports on their fund’s earnings, along with a report on disbursements from their specific fund.
Creating a Named Fund gives life-enduring significance and supports the work of Marion-Polk Food Share, allowing us to better help those we serve.
