Community Gardens

Marion-Polk Food Share believes ending hunger and cultivating gardens are intimately intertwined. Gardens build community, and only communities can end hunger. We support a network of over 30 gardens in Marion & Polk counties, facilitating the development of a truly local, sustainable food system. Our gardens range from school projects to urban farms to demonstration sites to neighborhood gardens.  Each garden is as unique as its community of gardeners. These gardens produce food for distribution at our pantries, as well as for the gardeners themselves, many of whom rely the food they grow. But the gardens do much more that produce delicious, healthy food. They bring people together, across age, cultural and economic barriers. They unify neighborhoods and build friendships. They educate us, they fascinate us, and they nourish us. Our gardens provide fertile ground for a just society to grow.

Our gardens build sustainable communities. Our gardens end hunger.

The Mission of the Marion Polk-Food Share Community Gardens Program is to end hunger in Marion and Polk counties through the development of local community gardens.

We work towards this mission in three primary ways. Follow the links below for more information:
