Help Our Most Vulnerable Community Members on #GivingTuesday

Marion Polk Food Share is calling on the Mid-Willamette Valley to join in #GivingTuesday, a global day to celebrate generosity and give to charitable causes. This year #GivingTuesday is on November 29 and the Food Share is launching a 24-hour campaign to raise funds for some of the most vulnerable members of our community: home-bound seniors.

More than 280 seniors depend on Meals on Wheels, a program of the Food Share, for a daily nutritious meal delivered by a friendly volunteer. To a home-bound senior Meals on Wheels delivers more than a meal; it delivers a lifeline of nutrition and social connection.

#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The day kicks off the holiday giving season and inspires people to work together to improve their local communities by giving back to charities and causes.

“The holidays are a time of celebration and coming together,” said Rick Gaupo, President of the Food Share. “We’re asking our community to come together on #GivingTuesday to make sure that no one is forgotten during this special time of year. For as little as $35, you can give a local senior an entire week’s worth of meals delivered directly to their home.”
