Trader Joe's flowersThanks to fresh flower donations from Trader Joe’s, the days for patients and families served by Willamette Valley Hospice will be a little brighter.

Willamette Valley Hospice, a partner of MPFS, gives out "after-hours" boxes to people in hospice care who are also in need of food assistance. They then work to connect those individuals to our food pantry network for ongoing support. They have anywhere from 100 to 200 people on hospice care at any given time. Additionally, they have about 300 volunteers.

The volunteers give out flowers when flowers are available to the patients and families. This past week we sent them the flowers from Trader Joe’s. Volunteers rearranged the flowers and in a single day took out more than 20 great bouquets to hospice patients.

From now on, flowers from Trader Joe’s will go to Willamette Valley Hospice to support its mission of care.

Trader Joe’s is a new partner in the MPFS Fresh Alliance retail food recovery program.
