One year ago, Marion-Polk Food Share had under 600 members in the Sustainer Circle. Today 1,288 families, businesses and individuals have made the commitment to end hunger in Marion and Polk counties. Each member of the Sustainer Circle has made it possible for Marion-Polk Food Share to continue meeting the needs of our 97 partner agencies and the over 7,000 families being served each month.
In the month of September, the MPFS warehouse distributed an average of 150,000 pounds of food… Each Week! That’s 30,000 pounds of food a day! Without the monthly gifts made by the Sustainer Circle, MPFS would not have the funds available to make much needed food purchases. In fact, since we began the Imagine No Hunger Sustainer Campaign a year ago, enough money has been given to purchase several semi-truck loads of food, fund 40 or so community gardens and fund cooking classes that aim to teach folks how to stretch their food and their budgets.
If you have joined the Sustainer Circle and the fight to end local hunger, Thank You!
And if you haven’t, please consider it. With a monthly gift starting at $5 you can help feed more than 11,500 hungry children. $10 per month can provide one 50-pound emergency food box to a local, hungry family. Our neighbors need our help.
