Empty Bowls Event Raises Money to Fight Hunger

Empty Bowls, the annual pottery sale to raise money for hunger relief, will take place Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19 and 20, at Willamette Art Center. More than 1,000 handcrafted pottery pieces are on sale to the public, and all proceeds will go to Marion Polk Food Share.

More than 20 local artisans have been working all year long making beautiful bowls, platters and trays preparing for this highly anticipated event.

Over the last nine years, the Willamette Art Center has raised more than $200,000 to fight hunger in Marion and Polk counties.

The event runs Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 20, from noon to 4 p.m. while supplies last. Willamette Art Center is located on the Oregon State Fairgrounds through the yellow gate off Silverton Road.

Sponsors for this year’s event include Salem Electric, The Grand Hotel, Willamette Art Center, and John Gear Law Office.
