Family is Thankful for Food Pantry During Hard Times

By Published On: February 2nd, 2016

Because of community support, a family is able to make it through the hard times. After facing medical issues that cost him his job, Jim and his family turned to their neighborhood food pantry to put meals on the table.

“The Food Pantry has meant quite a bit to us.  In the last couple of years, we kind of had a downfall with finances due to some medical issues.  If it wasn’t for food pantries in the area, it would have been next to impossible to have managed to get through the hard times.

You really don’t know what life is going to hand you. I’ve been working since the age of 14 steadily and I’m now 50 years old, and for about two years I had a hard time finding work due to the medical issue that I had. Food Pantries have really helped with food – fresh food, vegetables, fruit, meat, and dry goods.

I’m very thankful for all the different places here in the Salem area that help out people that need.”
