Salem Harvest Volunteers Share the Harvest With Those in Need

By Published On: July 27th, 2016

Salem Harvest and their legion of volunteers have been filling the coolers at Marion Polk Food Share with fresh cherries, strawberries, plums, zucchini and other tasty produce grown right here in the Valley.

Salem Harvest is a unique organization that organizes volunteers to harvest excess fruit and vegetables from home gardens, backyard orchards and even large farms that would otherwise go to waste. Volunteers take up to half of the produce they pick home and the rest is donated to the Food Share for distribution to people in need.

If you would like to harvest fresh produce, or if you may have excess fruits and vegetables that you would like to donate, please visit their website. The Food Share is also looking for volunteers who can help sort fresh food. For more information on how you can make sure that everyone in our community has food, please contact 503 581 3855.
