Sign Up Now For A Community Garden Plot

Community garden organizers in Salem, Keizer, Woodburn, Silverton, Mt. Angel, Aumsville, Stayton, Mill City, Dallas and Grande Ronde are taking sign-ups for garden plots.

“We have about 29 gardens that still have rental plots open to the public,” said Marion Polk Food Share Community Gardens Program Director Ian Dixon-McDonald. “This is a wonderful opportunity for families to grow nutritious food to supplement their food budget. It’s also a great way to meet your neighbors and build community.”

Seeds, plants and tools are provided for use and classes are available to help new gardeners get the hang of growing their own food. While a plot fee may be requested, no will be turned away for lack of funds.

“We just want to have a commitment that those who sign-up will use the plots because there is a limited supply,” Dixon-McDonald said.
